Wards: eyes across the map
Anywhere far from your heroes is covered by dark fog of war. Enemies can walk up on you unseen.
A ward is a small eye you plant on the map. While it stands, your whole team can see the area around it.
No ward
Enemies can walk up unseen.
With a ward
You see who's coming and can react.
Observer Ward
Reveals an area. Enemies can only spot it with a Sentry Ward.
Sentry Ward
Reveals enemy wards and invisible heroes so you can destroy them.
When to take a fight
A big fight between the teams is a teamfight, and it's often decided by ultimates — each hero's strongest ability. Ultimates like these can turn a fight in a second:
Ravage
Tidehunter
Knocks up every enemy around him
Black Hole
Enigma
Pulls enemies in and locks them in place
Reverse Polarity
Magnus
Drags enemies in front of him and stuns them
Echo Slam
Earthshaker
The more enemies clumped up, the more it hurts
Take it
Your ultimates are ready, your team is together and you can see the enemy.

The enemy just used their ultimates or is spread out.
Hold off
Your team is split up, or the enemy has vanished from the map.

You're alone in enemy territory with no wards.
Roshan: the biggest objective
Killing Roshan takes a team, but the reward is worth the risk. Best time: right after winning a teamfight, while the enemy waits to respawn.
Aegis of the Immortal
One extra life, right where you fell.
Cheese
From the second kill: restores a big chunk of health and mana.
Refresher Shard
On later kills: use every ability again, once.
Roshan comes back 8–11 minutes after he dies.
Won a fight? Push right away
Dead enemies take time to come back. Use it to push — march forward and destroy the nearest tower. Every tower down pays gold to your whole team.
Key Points to Remember
- Pings (Alt + click) are faster than typing
- Wards give vision — without them you play in the dark
- Fight when your ultimates are ready and your team is together
- Roshan drops the Aegis — take him after a won teamfight
- Won a fight → push a tower straight away
